I went with the Baseline softcover this time. They are probably more repairable than the hard shell long term. Still paid $300 or so for that "warranty" option. I am Ok with that given what I paid for th bag 7 years ago. I would not be OK if the timeframe was only a year or two.

BR should have a big asterisk explaining the unrepairable bag situation
