Tough crowd in here!
Maybe I have unrefined tastes, but this looks like a perfectly fine evolutionary J product. I even liked Polaris 1.0 and would have been happy had they continued with only that for a while longer.
It seems as though the world's airlines and seat designers have settled on largely the same ultimate J product: flat bed, all-aisle access, and reverse herringbone. I'm not sure how much more they can innovate on that. It's no surprise UA went with a reverse herringbone product, and it's no surprise they didn't do much beyond adding doors. They were never going to increase seat pitch. What more do you want?
I think the biggest move they made in this whole announcement is increasing the quantity of J and PP seats – that's huge. Routes like SFO-SIN are screaming for more premium seats.
