Just back from RT on the jet out of LAX. I was excited to try out these seats and snagged 1L and 1A for my wife and I on outbound. Coming back she got 1L and I got 3L. Lucky from OMAAT’s article claiming it’s the best business class seat raised my expectations but I feel he got it wrong.

For me the pros are:
-lots of extra room for sleeping
-Bluetooth connectivity of earbuds-however seems to time out when pause a moving to go to lav, etc
door works well but decent sized gap, bigger than others
-I think that’s it….
cons:
-too far from tv so difficult to use touchscreen
-the remote looks nice as an alternative but is clunky with significant delay, you have to be very patient(you can use a device and pair to use as a remote, also clunky though)
-surface charger doesn’t really work with new cameras being bulky
-seats a bit hard(mattress pad coming will help)
-difficult to create a good semi recline for tv viewing, all or none unless use remote which doesn’t work well
-call button located where you accidentally activate it, I did it a few times. Lady in front of me must have done it 50 times. FAs were nice about it but what a stupid design.
-1 lav in front only, mostly blocked off
-I assumed my wife and I could dine together, not allowed to sit on ottoman
Add in the food quality, not really anything great….worlds best?
my impression of the second set of bulkhead seats is roomier that others but not like row 1 and center seats are less roomy over all
ive flown AA 777s, 787, Swiss biz, and a few others and sure, this is better than those. But over the Asian carriers, no way.
