In terms of the width of the seat pan itself, yes I think it will be comparable to the 777. It's overall a less dense product... comparable, sure, but definitely more spacious.

And it was undoubtedly a major step down in comfort from the best seats on the old 2-2-2 layout -- the bulkhead middles (1D/E, I think).

The usual support for the "eight abreast" is that there are points in the cabin at which a straight, transverse line can be drawn, and 8 bodies will be touched. On that basis, the new product introduced today is
also eight abreast.
