Then again, look on the bright side... maybe this means fewer oily smudges on windows of these forthcoming 787s!

Agree that they are gimmicky. But United would be blasted for introducing a next generation business product without doors. It's industry-standard now
3) harder to sit by/see out of windows? a big MEEH
it's really not THAT far away... and an improvement over the even-row Polaris window seats in the current config
4) The +1 seating on the other hand seems like a nice blend of individual seats for sleeping but somewhere to sit when awake - vs. needing the middle two with the wall down
(again a pro for a big window seat person here)
