My spouse and I had the chance to visit Yama no Chaya two years ago, Shougetsu last year, and we are on our way to Gekkoju Kurokawa in a few weeks. We had a hard time deciding between Takefue and Gekkoju and we decided to go with the latter for the beautiful landscape. We reserved the same room as you did back when you went.

Thank you once again for sharing your experience with us!
You'll really dig Gekkoju Kurokawa (yep, it's the new name - formerly called Gosho Gekkoju.) You're not the only one that prefers it over Takefue; comparing them is like apples to oranges. Gekkoju has several private onsens, not counting the ones in the room. If you do Tenku, make sure you do it after the sun goes down (or before the sun goes up), as there is no cover from the sunlight. You can do the (man-made) cave bath at any time.
