Had a similar experience flying Transcon F. There was someone with a multi page dot matrix printout manning the desk by the entrance and was trying to cross check my name against the list. Another employee was also there and told her it was OK since I had the Transcon F boarding pass.

Not sure exactly who is on that list or why they need it, particularly since once the list is printed, it is out of date. Perhaps they should invest in a tablet to get realtime access to whatever data they need?
Exactly. The system at the lounge works - they can query for your name or scan a BP (if you have it).
I've been denied so many times, its funny. AA has given me 4 figures in monetary comp and God knows how many miles just for reporting this (and not asking for anything other than they fix the problem)
