Maybe knowledge of food rather than history. The "donuts" (shudder at the comparison
) are called Berliner in the area in and around Berlin (Pfannkuchen in other parts of Germany) and I'm sure there are more names in various other regions as well.
Kind of a fun reference and play on Kennedy's speech.
