I’ve booked with Singapore Airlines out of Newark (I know, I know) direct to SIN, and then 4 days later up to Hanoi. Return trip 2 weeks later, again connecting through SIN. Premium Economy between EWR-SIN and back, $1500 for the whole trip and all on a single reservation. I can put up with a lot of indifference for those kind of prices, but SIngapore have a good reputation for service, so I can’t imagine it’s anything worse than Delta or Korea would throw at me.
That's a good fare and great idea to layover a few days in SIN. If you have not been to SIN, leave some time prior to departure to check out the Jewel and rest of the airport. (Jewel is not behind immigration, and security is at the gates)
