Its been quite a number of times now that I try to look to see/change my seat a few days (say 3 or 4 days) before the flight date and I get the message “Seat selection is closed now, and you can select seat during check in”. I do that to see if the next seat is empty, etc etc. The SQ website says seat selection is available upto 48 hours before the flight – but I have encountered this issue many times.
Has anyone else faced this issue that I seem to face quite often? Any explanation/ possible reasons?
I think that once a certain percentage of seats have been allocated, the system then ‘closes off’ future selection, perhaps to preserve flexibility for Load Control to manage things such as INOPERATIVE seats, wheelchair, special needs and so on.
