I'd agree with this - we flew to Auckland from London earlier this year with the flights booked on QF codes but Emirates being the main carrier (LHR-DXB-SYD) and Qantas only carrying us on the SYD-AKL leg. The Qantas flight posted with 24 hours automatically to BA Exec Club but the Emirates cresits did require a phone call and some photos of boarding passes to be sent to BA. Was fairly easy and they were quick to correct - 980 old tier points for that round trip so was pretty keen to follow up!
