I recently used this benefit, and the restaurant stapled their copy of the receipt to my bag. I was surprised to see the "Up to $5 Chase x DashPass" credit listed under "Promo Paid by You" (i.e., by the restaurant). The restaurant had already provided a $7 discount within the app (which was very clearly coming from the restaurant, one of those "save $7 on orders of x or more"), and there was clearly a total of $12 deducted from what the restaurant was receiving ("subtotal for tax calculations" was $12 less than the retail subtotal).
I had assumed the $5 promo was funded by Chase and DoorDash, not by the restaurant. Anyone know whether this varies by restaurant or somehow based on something I clicked in the app?
