FWIW they really weren't missing much.
My recent visit to the B gates AA lounge at PHX pre departure on AA to SNA was overcrowded, with plastic throw away waste and half eaten food everywhere and hardly anywhere to sit. With the exception of one agent on the desk who was extremely helpful in contacting Uber to get a driver to return with my phone, every other employee there came across as surly and in the case of the bar tender down right rude (no tip for her!)
