Isn't both AS award travel? As such AS is control of the reservations. This similar to my situation and there is a whole thread on interline travel. In my case, booking 2 award travel resulted in lower RDM cost. Hoping my check in agent will consolidate the tickets. CS says it ca e doe by gate agent but not by CS.
