You have to constantly 'feed and water' your bookings with AA in my experience.
Thank you, well the connection time is 2.5 hours or so, I don't think it's an issue. No terminal change needed either. I could see PHX-JFK was very busy on that date, no direct flight showed up when I chose premium cabins. I suspect my booking was cancelled because AA prioritised someone (like CK, VIP, etc) and my booking was dumped.
