If you are buying D1 tickets for two travelling together, check the American Express Travel Agency to see if there is a deal. They can have some convoluted “two-for-one” offers. I got JFK-EDI/LHR-JFK for late April, purchased mid-March, for $1850 each RT. I added separate tickets to and from Norway for part of the trip. Perhaps it was a random lightning strike, but was nice being a paying passenger vs. upgrade certificate anxiety for a change.
