My thought is that cloth is repairable while polycarbonate is not - especially from bigger drops off a cart on the runway. The bag is fairly heavy when we use it and that extra weight contributes to an impact when dropped.
FWIW, the frame broke on my Baseline twice. B&R replaced the frame both times. This was several years ago. At that time, I had to pay for shipping there completely on my own as well as find a box or pay UPS to wrap it up for me. Each time, it was well over $100 to ship it back because it was the Baseline large size. I still really like my B&R luggage but I'm not such a believer in the lifetime warranty.
