The drive was fine, no issues at all. We went to an offsite restaurant and it was also kind of expensive but that was probably due to the one we picked.
We paid $350 to rent a car (with a carseat) with the full CDW insurance because we thought we'd be going on several hour long drive side trips but since we didn't, in hindsight it would have probably been a bit cheaper to avoid renting a car all together.
