No it wasn't to mention it per policy, just to politely request some informal leeway...
In any case, the flight went tech and was eventually cancelled after 1-2 hours at the gate. The staff were excellent. It was clear that the flight was extremely unlikely to go that day. They booked everyone into a hotel but I said we'd rather sort ourselves out a hotel and head back in to Singapore city. They took my details and main great efforts to explain the reimbursement policy and limits as promised phoned me later that day to confirm the new flight time the following day. When we checked in again the next day there we three of them on-hand to apologise, check all was ok and deal with reimbursement etc; the taxis were paid in cash at the airport and the hotel by bank transfer a few days a few days later. The cancelled flight was very annoying but really could not fault the customer care/
They didn't bother weighing the bags for the new flight, and nor did they on the TPE-SIN return a week later.
The two flights in PE were great. Decent seats (although I wouldn't like to be in them for LH) and great service.
