I think it is a bug which affects only some users. I had it for a while, the app required me to log-in nearly every time. It was a bit annoying, but thanks to Face ID not a big deal. Interestingly the problem went away and now it is back to normal, like you write, maybe once a day. Maybe a certain device/ OS/ Delta app version combination which causes the problem?
