I would routinely book a manual midsize at both FRA and MUC and would be “upgraded” to an automatic (which are more expensive in Germany). I would typically receive a 3-series or E-class, which were full-size. After a few discussions I started to get some fun manual vehicles.

This was years ago, so times may have changed. I was always treated very well as PC at both locations (6+ times a year).
