Yes that is exactly the point I was trying to make, I was taking issue with the 'yet another Airbus widebody failure' statement. Like if I said the 737 program was a failure because the 736 didn't sell well.
Mulroney was A320 only in the late 80s was gone by the time the 333/343 were purchased. Don't believe he had any input on that decision.
