Hey everyone,
I'm planning a 2-week trip from
Berlin to Montreal in June. I'm flexible with dates, almost anything goes, but let's say for example: June 12 outbound, June 26 return. I'm looking at
LH/LX via FRA/MUC/ZRH -> YUL.
I want to
upgrade to business from economy using M&M and I understand the mileage rules are:
- Y, B (fully flexible): 35,000 miles
- M, U, H, Q, V, W, S (standard): 50,000 miles
- K, L, T (discounted): 75,000 miles
I want to ideally
spend only 50K miles.
Example flights I'm looking at:
- LH 478: FRA–YUL, departs 14:20
- LX 87: ZRH–YUL, departs 16:40
My questions:
1. When I search on the Lufthansa or SWISS websites,
I only see K or L fares.
How to book a higher fare (M, U, H, etc)?
2. How to check R-class upgrade availability? I signed up to ExpertFlyer but
can’t check upgrade space for LX or LH 
Do I need to call Lufthansa? Would they even help?
Btw, I know Air Canada only allows upgrades from Y and B, so I’m not considering that route since the tickets seem to be very expensive.
