Same story for diplomas/degrees given to 99% of students ==> 0 value/useless.
for that to be the case they need to offer significant benefits at the top. At most hotels whats the difference between plat and diamond or at bas3 hotels the difference between plat/gold/silver? Ot much with accor from my experience...
In the end the companies just monetize status to the extreme and sell it to the ones who are willing to pay
