That was the initial story of the security guard. The story has since been updated with the Liberty having carried out an investigation - that's why the security guard is suspended. The security guard was only suspended after the investigation was completed if you read the article.

You might have found the security guards story plausible, and evidently so did the Liberty. But the story didnt hold up after investigation. More likely, an over-eager or dare one say transphobic security guard tried to cover their tracks by making up a story, and the Liberty investigated and couldn't corroborate said made-up story. And is now therefore apologizing.
