The other options I was given when looking at this reward ticket were

NH1075 (0935 dep)
NH246 (1020 dep)
NH248 (1115 dep)

I wonder if I should get it changed to NH248 and take a chance since NH would have to book us on a later flight if we miss it?

Japan customs form is here
As long as:
- You're not carrying goods more than $1900 CAD
- Raw meat / plants stuff
- Illegal stuff
You're OK.

Obviously the usual warnings apply about meds - if you have presription meds carry them in the bottle / have a note from your doctor and only enough for your trip. If any of your meds contain stimulates/ narcotic elements check ahead of time. ( Be careful of OTC (cold / cough) meds that contain stimulants)

For me - if you've never transited FUK before and don't know the airport I'd stick with what you have.

Don't do what I did back in my student days and decide that on your way back to study abroad from trip home at christmas that you HAD to go to Den Den town on a KIX -> ITM transfer and get a taxi and make it to the boarding gate just as the flight is boarding.
