LOL! I’ve never been called that before - I’ve been called worse, probably!
I don’t quite have the same bad perception of EWR as others, I don’t seem to recall delays being any better or worse at EWR than other airports (it is such a random thing for an individual traveler). I’ve flown through EWR more times than I can recall, and although I much prefer to fly through Dulles, I don’t hate EWR as much as some people who’ve written stuff above. I used to live in Central PA, and would take a car service up to EWR for International Trips, so I’ve used it as an originating airport as well as a connection point, doesn’t seem much different to me.
My biggest gripe is returning from an international trip when I land in B, have to take the AirTrain to C (to use the Polaris lounge) and then take the bus to A. I really prefer to IAD when returning on an international trip. I’m not a huge fan of the bus service in general, but they run often enough and it doesn’t take that long.
I think the gate agents tend to be less friendly at EWR, but I don’t interact with them very much so it doesn’t really bother me. I travel enough that I don’t need much help (I book a ticket, pick my seat, board my flight and put my headphones on and chill). I do wish they’d show up more than 20 minutes before boarding… and run a better boarding process, but at the end of the day, I always seem to get to my destination when I’m supposed to get there (give or take a few minutes now and then).
I will actively seek to avoid it now for the next several months, for all the stuff that’s going on, but it’s a shame given what I wrote above about finding some good fares.
