If you benchmark against European service any thing will look good. If I fly there I fly long haul to the nearest city to my destination and then proceed by train and or car and driver. Europeans have totally lost control of short haul flight quality. Pigs eat swill and live in sh*t. That does not mean that people should do the same.

CX has no flights circa 1 hour. The shortest is over that.
CX has 17 777-300s (NOT ERs) which have some 40 C class seats configured 2-3-2. These are only for regional flights, they are not even permitted to fly from HKG to the main Australian capital cities.. Perhaps you are not aware that the original 777s were for regional services. The CX Engineering director was one of the team who participated in developing its specification. I have heard that he was responsible for the increased girth of the bird to give its large capacity.
