Were both flights on the same ticket? If yes, that's quite unusual. Normally, for such tight connections there's usually a QR representative to take you to the next flight.
In case you had missed your second flight (and provided it was on the same ticket), QR would have either rerouted you or if the next flight was the following day, put you in a hotel.
Yes both flights were on the same ticket, I did look out for an representative at the gate and there was a couple of boards showing but not for us. If my wife was travelling on her own, then she would have needed help to get to C14 gate. We were told that the gate was closing with only minutes to spare.
