It would be nice for the dogs to stretch their legs. Are you checking in the three bags? If not, why not? Your connection is within the limit to check the bags through (max 18 hours between flights). With minimal bags, it is an easy walk. Both are about the same distance to walk and both have shuttles for the following morning if you don't want to walk back. Both have decent restaurants for dinner with the edge going to the Skybridge which has very good food, although Spencers at the Hilton is decent as well. Rooms are comparable with a slight edge to the Hilton IMO if you get the 2 King as @david55 said above. Plus, you can get the ground floor to easily take the dogs out and cut through the inner courtyard/pool area rather than walk through the hallways. The next closest is the Marriott, but it is uphill and not walkable in your situation so you would need the shuttle. There is a lounge though if you have status (or buy up to club level) which would be good to have a snack in the evening and breakfast and not have to worry about going out for dinner. And you could take turns in the lounge so one stays in the room with the dogs. All the other hotels are about the same distance away by shuttle with no clear winners so I would choose from one of the above three.
Thanks to both of you. I booked the Hilton across the street in the 2 king bed room... It was pricey though. All-in is $600 - that includes the room, the dogs, & taxes. But we're looking for convenience & comfort and that room looks like it fits the bill.
