As a regular HKG to MNL flyer in Economy, I go out of my way to avoid these flights. Its a right pain in the @$$ to get to the gate, the plane is HORRIBLE and unless you get the bulkhead seat (hard), an utterly miserable journey. Sure, the other planes are full as well, but the legroom is significantly better on the older planes. But if your Mum is tiny and cares more about entertainment, the screens are better on the A321 as is the ability to store stuff near the seat/charge phones.
