I am wondering about the economics of the LIS run, now that I have worked out how MFU works (and that one CAN get a shareholder discount on it and gets back half the miles for the paid part of the ticket and a good chunk of tier points). It seems to me that if the miles can be got cheaply (Tesco, Travelex etc.) this is the way to go. From now on I am restriting my mileage runs to the Hayes bye-pass (see my earlier thread).
Tomorrow is a momentous day as it will be the first time that I have actually flown on a redemption flight: an MFU in J to HKG at a cost of £560 inc tax and a net cost of around 18,000 miles (current cost at Travelex £90, but even without the 3 for 1 promo, only £270). Surely better than ex LIS ??
