Any reason why you did not pursue a UK261 claim against Emirates for either the refund or the cost of the replacement AF outbound trip (since you could not reach Emirates for them to arrange the rebooking)?
Here in the states, some newspapers and television stations have a "consumer advocate" reporter who investigates situations like this. Is something like that available to you in the U.K.?
