tbh i am surprised regular FT'ers aren't aware of this.
additionally of course you do not have to do the upgrade, even when explicitly offered in the form of a POUG.
Definitely cannot argue with your point about fare classes, but to the ordinary punter who is not an FTer (or
man person on the Clapham Omnibus) or it still looks like £900 each for the same seat. YMMV.
