Virgin Atlantic Upgrade Bid

Bid for upgrade from PE to upper the day after we made the booking in Jan 25, we fly tomorrow & haven’t heard anything - only the confirmations of our bid offer. Spoke to VA to confirm if we will get email, even if we are not successful, to let us know - one guy said no, another phone call they said not sure & last phone call they said you get notified either way - but as we are in UK to be mindful of time difference as team that controls this is overseas. Still not heard anything & flight is 24 hours away. Anyone had any experience with this? If we weren’t successful with bid, we wanted to pay the going price to upgrade for my dads comfort as he has Parkinson’s but don’t want to do this if there’s a potential chance we may get this but also don’t want to leave too late & risk either option. Currently 10 seats still showing in upper - what’s the latest someone has been advised bid was accepted? Has anyone been notified if they were not successful?
