There has been some buzz on the recent Capital One customer survey about what I would call a higher AF Savor. I didn't get the survey, but I am guessing it went to Venture variants cardholders.

Then, I was further shocked that Capital One did its first new Savor ad since I think TS days.

Did you notice what I noticed? No verbal mention of no AF. How could you not mention a major selling point?

While the math on the proposed major AF Savor doesn't make sense even with the coupon book, I really don't know what the future of this card will be. Further, it is promoting categories that is in major hurt in the economy currently with wide disappointments in theme park attendance numbers, entertainment concert ticket sales and restaurants (if people are cutting back at McDonalds...). I just read 60% of Coachella ticket buyers this past season used the installment payment plan which is not free. That is crazy, but probably known secrets of these banks before BNPL took off.

Sure, there is a market for HNW spenders, but I don't think it is the current card nor the proposed survey card either. I can't fault the bank from trying to capture marketshare (I guess that new WF card had a similar target).

It is so interesting to see the bank hesitate on pushing entertainment and dining rebate percentages because the likely target market probably pays off their statement. It does make AmEx charge card model on Gold and Platinum look customer friendly by not offering a payment plan by default (although, they do so upon request).

Only thing I know for sure is that life is great for all the Capital One spokespersons.
