Thanks for the further information. This means it's a countable versus non-countable hours scenario - since if you were over 3 hours late, you need at least 180 countable minutes. Ground handling issues - which are common on Saturdays - are countable. But if BA is able to prove there was an hour of delay due to ATC or weather, then it will be harder for you. However BA as a matter of process won't usually delve into countable versus non countable hours, they don't have enough staff for that, but do when it gets to CEDR. You will also get the detailed logs and this may give more information or clues. In particular you need to work through "all reasonable measures" - was there more that BA could have done to avoid the 3 hour delay.
