I did see this partnership coming when PR launched MNL-SEA last October, didn't expect them to take that long for the actual partnership announcement.

Omg don't get my started on the MNL experience. I flew XMN-MNL-SFO on 1/5 because cash J was only $1300 one-way, similar to what CX wanted in Y. Plus I love to try new airlines, and PR was one of the few remaining airlines that I haven't tried TPAC. So that's a no brainer. The MNL transit was confusing, lack of signs, one staff told me to "wait there" but no one guided us so eventually I found my own way to the actual transit area. The doc check for US flights was chaotic, line was long for both J and Y before boarding, so make sure you do it the first thing after you pass the transiting security before heading to the lounge. Lounge was packed, hard to find a seat, and floor was sticky.

Product wise.. it's outdated 2-3-2 angle flat on most of their 77Ws, preorder exists but they listed options for 2 meal services altogether and you could only choose one dish, so the other meal selection would be subject to availability on board. The meal options are nice, and they actually come around with EACH dessert options and asked if you'd like to try, so technically you could try 5 desserts if you want to. Unlike AA where "one dessert per person" policy applies.

I anticipate the PR J would become a MR opportunity for many.

Speaking of broken IFE, they did give me cash compensation after I insisted post travel. But if I'm being honest, the lie-flat at my dentist's which I will experience again next week is probably more comfortable than PR J.
