I am trying to understand how Priority Pass makes any money - Any thoughts?
Hi all,
I have lost status now with the alliances so only get lounge access if I am flying J.
I pay £180 a year for a credit card through a UK bank which gives me an unlimited priority pass for both myself and a supplementary cardholder, this also includes dining credits.
I fly about 100 segments a year of which about 80 are in Y so do not come with lounge access.
Of the 80, I would say 90 percent of the airports have some sort of PP offering (lounge or restaurant) and many have several options.
I estimate I use the lounge offering about 70 times a year and the dining credit option probably about 20 times a year. Quite often I will go to a lounge, see the food is not great so move to a restaurant to use my credit.
My supplementary card holder uses the lounges about 10 times a year.
How on earth does PP make any money off of this arrangement?
I seem to get thousands of dollars of value a year for something costing me around 230 dollars a year, not to mention the other benefits of the credit card (1 percent cashback, no FX fees).
