flyercopilot update

Hello FT community

We've been hard at work making a lot of changes over the last few weeks. A lot of them based on feedback...

Credits - we have ditched the credit system - feedback was mainly negative - so we now have a pretty straightforward subscription plan.
  • Basic allows you to add 5 flights and make 2x seatmap and 2x flight availability calls. All the other functionality such as Lounge DB is included for free
  • Silver allows unlimited flights and unlimited seatmap and flight availability requests. We *may* add a fair use policy but we don't think we will need to.
  • Gold will add additional features - mainly those that are incrementally more expensive for us to provide. So probably things like seatmap alerts and live flight tracking. There won't be a massive uplift in cost to Gold.
  • (the BA in me wants to add Gold Guest List - but we'll see )
All beta users have been set to Silver and this will probably be good through May and maybe even June .

Other big features we have added:
  • Flight Availability - hugely improved - can also be thought of as a flight schedule search. We now accurately display Sold Out flights and if we *can't* get flight data but we can get the scheduled flight we will show you that. All the flights displayed, you can now add to your list and immediately see their seatmap.
  • Codeshares and Terminals - our flight data now includes these, so we accurately record the arrival and departure terminal (this is very important for other features), and now knowing codeshare status, for things like Live Seatmaps, we show you the Seatmap and aaroLOPA for the underlying Operating flight metal.
  • Lounge Database - we now have a fairly rich lounge database. This is also now open for *subscribed* users to edit. We realised the main providers don't want to make the information readily available in volume and we respect that, rather than seek to 'crawl' their data. So we are, in a sense, doing a huge amount to create a baseline, then relying on our users/crowdsourcing to maintain an accurate state. It is work in progress but that is the direction.
    • Oneworld - we are 98% complete
    • Star Alliance - 50% but most the big airports covered
    • Skyteam - so far not much but we will spend some time on the main airports - we are also using this to see if crowd sourcing works
    • Amex Platinum - excellent coverage, but based on the UK benefits. US will follow (as will Centurion)
    • Priority Pass - 85%
    • Dragon pass - on the roadmap
    • Pay per entry airport lounges - on the roadmap (and important - we hope to offer special offers to our users)
* we know we have duplicates across those 5 main supported programs - we are working on a composite view that will improve that
  • Bug fixes and enhancements - too many to mention - many based on your feedback so THANK YOU!
Thank You EVERYONE who has helped and offered feedback - some of the positive comments have been lovely and makes it all worthwhile. It's been an amazing experience building it and trying to make something people want to use
