Just received a new flight schedule and the connecting time is now 45 minutes. Still some time to go to August but also 45 minutes sound like having to hurry more than we like.

Update 2. I mailed Rome airport, they answered within 10 minutes and after explaining how transfers work they ended with:
Aside from these considerations, at least 2 hours are necessary between the scheduled times of arrival/departure flights; 40 minutes cannot be enough at all to catch the connection.

So 45 minutes will still be a challege.

Answer before updates:

Thank you for your info. I relied on the information below.ITA and airport site do not mention concrete numbers, but a claim page myflyright.com states:

It is essential to be aware of the Minimum Connection Time (MCT) in an airport when the route has a connecting flight. It's advisable to look this up before booking a flight ticket. The MCT is also important if the air traveller is claiming for compensation for a missed connection. Below you can see the MCT in Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport for connecting flights.

Between domestic flights: 35 min.

Between domestic and international flights: 40 min.

Between international flights: 40 min.

The two call center agents I talked to also mentioned the above connecting times.

I saw the same numbers quoted on several forums, In addition travelers reported that ITA staff will be at the gate to help passengers with short connections.

I am a bit apprehensive to press for a change as I might run the risk that the booking will be cancelled (by accident). We booked early and got a fare that has tripled in the meantime.
