Recently I had a MIA/JFK/LAX flight in first/flagship first that involved an overall night connection with a 12:30AM arriving flight and a 6AM departure (cheaper that way) and just stayed at JFK. Some people around but not a lot. Now MIA, that's where you see scores of passengers overnight in the sterile area. DFW, LAX, ATL don't seem to be an issue but BOS/LGA they will chase you out to the non sterile side.

Homelessness would have to do with the non sterile areas, not sure how they could make it past Security. LGA at least before renovations had no small number camped out in the seating areas before TSA checkpoints.
I soent a miserable night attempting to sleep at LGA in the AA terminal area. Nobody chased us out. I was stranded due to misconnection and all hotels were full. It's impossible to sleep with the loud "this is a special security announcement" we've all heard every ten minutes for 20+ years and blazing lighting. At least shut the pointless yapping off and turn the lights down.
