Booked F for P2 HND-LAX for next April right at open. The 2J were gone in the 5 min it took to book the F so I’m waiting for 2J to drop sometime this year or super close in for myself and 12 year old kid.
I’m not optimistic 2J seats are going to open at the same so im going to have to jump on any single seat that opens. Will they book the kid on her own PNR if there’s only 1 seat? I would then have to wait for another J to open for me or pay cash. Any advice on how to book myself and the kid on separate PNRs, or if they’ll even do it? Thanks
Seats open to JAL members a few days before BA, so might be that one of their people got the J seats. Obvious options:
- Book the following day if possible, monitor to see if availability for your preferred day/flight opens up in the interim. JAL do seem to release a fair bit of inventory near to departure if it's not sold, so odds on this one probably ok - especially if you're open to flying through another gateway and [self-]connecting on AS/AA.
- Book for another gateway on the right day [SFO?].
BA will add on a connection for no change fee if it wasn't available at time of booking, but a JL/AA or JL/AS redemption would take you onto the multi-carrier chart. That probably wouldn't be cost-efficient for you so you might prefer to self-connect on a cash ticket.
