I just missed my connection JFK-FCO-BCN. The fact that they sell a 45-minute connection is a bit surprising, but my flight took over 9 hours gate-to-gate when the flight is normally 7.5-8 hours.

In the last hour of flight, they announced the flights that would have missed their connections (quite a few on mine).

I would imagine that an overnight is normally not standard as all the NYC flights are supposed to arrive in the morning, although some frequences are quite low after the morning rush (the next flight to BCN was +5 hours later and would have rendered my trip moot). They're also quite inflexible -- they wouldn't route me on any other flight (AF, KL, LH, or VY) except AZ metal.
