Unfortunately I can't see this going anywhere. By all means ask at LIS if they will move the LPA flight as a favour, but I wouldn't expect a positive answer. Europe generally treats separate tickets and irrops differently from the USA, and the "flat tire" concept won't apply here. Hence buy a single reservation to LPA, which may be more expensive, comes with protections not provided by separate tickets.
