People do reselling, that don't really consider themselves "retail storefront" sales people. People buy lots of gift cards, to get points/status/complete SUBs, and there is some cost and they might "hate" giftcards.
If you learn to play video poker properly, the house edge is small. As long as you understand variance and odds and play a denomination that makes sense; with 10x Tier Multipliers it can make sense for non-gamblers to use VP
to just gain status.
Not all gambling is "bad," and not all gambling is done just for the enjoyment of gambling. Many play VP to gain status, the same way people buy gift cards to complete a sub.
