I didn't, but passed the hotel several times moving between Tropicana Macalister (where Courtyard is) and Gurney Plaza... and did a bit of sightseeing in the Gurney Bay area where Millen and Penang Marriott are located. It's a bit of an 'it' destination of the moment, but maybe I've spent too much time in Singapore and thus immune to the charms of high-rise residential/hotel projects on reclaimed land (or simply would prefer to go to Singapore for such an environment). If I had to stay in this part of the island, I guess I'd choose the Marriott for the lounge. As you said you want to be walking around old town, Prestige puts you right there, whereas all the others require a car ride in/out which is chews up valuable sightseeing and eating/drinking time.
