Dear Friends,
I hope this message finds you well! I’m thrilled to be boarding a plane soon to visit the USA.
By the time I start my journey, the entire fleet of Qantas Dreamliners will be back in operation across Australia. I will be flying on a Qantas 787-9 in Economy Class. I've spent quite some time studying the seating map and, being somewhat obsessive about selecting the perfect seat, I’ve watched numerous YouTube videos to find one with the best window position. I really wanted a seat on the left side where the window offers an unobstructed view. Many of the seats I considered had windows that were either too far back or partially obscured.
After careful consideration, I’ve decided on Seat 50 on the left side. However, I’m not too keen on sitting too far back in the cabin. I have a tendency to rush to the immigration area at LAX and pick up my luggage, and I prefer not to be one of the last to disembark.
So, I’m reaching out to see if Seat 50 is a good choice. From the videos I’ve seen, it seems ideal because the window position allows for great views without having to lean forward. I’m quite particular about not wanting to sit too far back.
One concern I have is that it’s a three-seat row, and I often find myself needing to go to the restroom throughout flights. I worry that my frequent trips may disturb the passengers seated next to me. I tend to experience a mix of excitement and anxiety during flights, which often leads me to feel the need to use the restroom several times on long journeys.
My flight is in September, and I’m eager to discover what I might see during the trip. It departs at 8 PM, and I’m curious if it will be a “sleep mode” flight, meaning it’ll be dark for most of the 14 hours bound for LAX. Given the timing, I’ll be arriving at LAX at 4:40 PM local time. I wonder if the views are better from the left or right side, as we’ll be crossing the Pacific Ocean, where I expect to see mainly sea and clouds.
I anticipate we may experience daylight fairly quickly after departure since we leave at 8 PM and arrive at 4:40 PM on the same day. Perhaps we’ll see daylight within four hours of takeoff? I’m not entirely sure what to expect.
As you can see, I’m genuinely excited and have a few questions about Seat 50. Is it a good choice? Is there a significant difference in views between left and right for this particular trip, given our 8 PM departure time?
Additionally, I’m curious about the feasibility of sleeping on a 14-hour long-haul flight. I want to adjust to the LA time zone to ensure I can sleep when I arrive. There’s so much I’m eager to learn to better prepare for this trip and to fully enjoy the energy of my arrival in LA.
Thank you for any insights you can share!
So AUSTRALIA depature 8pm in september and arrive 440pm LA local time California USA. It be Qantas on the dreamliner. I don't no if you would call this a sleep mode flight or stay awake all night leading to destination. I know it be dark when depature. But when will it be daylight if i was to look at the window. 4 hours later once the flight is in the air ?
Thanks and please share your ideas too if your one of these who also seats on seat 50. Love your experience and also the whole entertainment system screen in front of you. Im not a movie fan. I do like the news and documentaries but not into movies so i wont expect to watch movies for 14 hours.
