Likewise, I think your bank/card issuer may decline to assist given the circumstances you’ve described. Your main beef appears to be with the ‘fussy’ requirements of your insurer IMHO.

If you PM me your specific flight information (route, fare class RBD (W?) and specific fare basis (eg WLRLEX or whatever), then I can try and pull up the fare rules from ExpertFlyer.
Hi Thai-Kiwi, I will send the flight information now, thanks again. I was able to try a dummy flight to get the "saver" rules to come up, but it is still not in a very reproducable form and basically the same that I found in a Google Search. Maybe the rules from ExpertFlyer will look more convincing for my travel insurance (chase). It may not be necessary now (see below) but it never hurts to have backup documents for travel insurance.

So I wanted to inform anyone interested, that if you're having trouble getting Thai Airways to give you an itemized receipt for your trip cancellation insurance, a credit card dispute works almost instantly. I went through 4 days of e-mails and call with customer service, with them giving me information for different flights, generic refusals, etc. So, I filed a dispute with my credit card company and explained that they were violating what we agreed on in terms of a refund since they told me on the phone when I cancelled that I would get an itemized receipt but later refused, and now they were preventing me from getting reimbursed. I requested that they either send me the document I requested or refund the rest of the ticket... and what do you know? In less than an hour I had an e-mail response from customer service, who hadn't responded to my latest attempt for *5* days, with *all the information* I requested.

The power of credit card disputes!
