Quick question on T5 arrival from Spain, transferring to Edinburgh flight. Elected the Flight Connections Route as there seemed little delay and the connection was snuggish. I did have Fast Track.
So, as I approached the FCC from a 5B unloading via -4, there was a directional sign for UK/Ireland connections to a narrow tensa lane, the larger FCC entry beyond, and the beckoning call of Fast Track beyond.
I dutifully followed the narrow lane to three cheerful ladies who simply glanced at my pass, and waved me on…which made me wonder why? The BP scan/check was beyond the border gates…and after that was a massive pile-up of bodies from the main FCC scrum, and just before that another little Fast Track sign that, when followed, joined the other side of the originally observed Fast Track at the bottom of an escalator.
I’m sure there is a reason, but I can’t really figure what it was as the passengers transiting the FCC for foreign climes mixed with me and had apparently also cleared the border. Would I have had a difficult time if I had simply followed the Fast Track sign?
